Maria Caulfield MP, the Minister for Women, has joined other Parliamentarians in celebrating England’s Lionesses ahead of their departure to the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
At the reception were the FA’s Director of Women’s Football, Baroness Sue Campbell, the Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport Lucy Frazer and EURO 2022 winner and England Women record goal-scorer Ellen White MBE.
The Lewes MP signed a special message of good luck from the constituency for the Lionesses.
Maria Caulfield MP said “I want to wish England’s Lionesses the best of luck ahead of the Women’s World Cup, starting on 20th July in Australia and New Zealand. The whole country will be watching and cheering them on. Following a fourth place finish at the last World Cup and victory at last year’s European Championship I am hopeful that the Lionesses can go all the way and become World Champions this year.
“But however they do in the competition they are winning at inspiring a new generation of girls to take up football and follow in their footsteps.”
