Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, has visited ‘The Parliament Shed’ – a Men’s Shed that has been constructed in Parliament this week.
Maria met with the UK Men’s Shed Association (UKMSA) and discussed a range of topics including the launch of the UKMSA’s new partnership with the Royal British Legion.
Men’s Sheds enable and promote positive wellbeing, undoubtedly save lives, reduce loneliness, social isolation and build communities. In some cases Men’s Sheds are there for those that feel they have nowhere else to turn, have lost a loved one or are struggling with their mental health.
The number of Men’s Sheds in the United Kingdom has now surpassed 1,100 and it is estimated well over 33,000 people regularly attend Men’s Sheds with many more benefitting from projects in schools, hospitals, charities and their communities.
Commenting, Maria Caulfield MP said:
“I was very pleased to meet with the UKMSA and find out all the positive benefits of Men’s Sheds and to celebrate their 10th year as a charity, I would like to pay tribute to all the Men’s Sheds across the country who do such valuable work”
