Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, is set to meet Royal Mail to discuss the serious issue of the lack of postal provision across the local area.
The Lewes MP had been attempting to meet with Royal Mail for weeks following the disruption that many residents have had with some receiving post on irregular schedules with some as little as once a fortnight.
This has included people who have had delays to getting medication and other essential items.
In response to the lack of communication from Royal Mail, Maria Caulfield wrote to Kevin Hollingrake MP who is the Minister responsible for postal services.
The Minister has responded confirming that his officials had discussed this with Royal Mail and that a meeting will be arranged for Maria Caulfield to make representations on behalf of the constituents of Lewes.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
“I would like to thank the Minister for his intervention, the issue needs to be urgently addressed by Royal Mail and I will be making this clear in my meeting with them. I have heard shocking stories from constituents who have missed urgent items such as medication and paperwork which needed to be returned by a deadline which was then missed. I will keep working for residents to seek a resolution to this with Royal Mail.”
