Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, has been working non stop to try and get Talland Parade Scaffolding taken down and now it is finally happening.
Maria welcomed the news back in October 2022 that the licence for Talland Parade Scaffolding will not be renewed and that legal action has been launched against the owner of the site to have the scaffolding removed.
The scaffolding at Talland Parade has been blight on the town of Seaford for over 6 years and the owner has been given numerous chances to undertake works.
Maria Caulfield and Councillor Sam Adeniji have been campaigning for Lewes District Council to take action against the owner of the site and have welcomed the news that they are now taking the owners to court for common law public nuisance.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
“I am delighted at last that we have seen this scaffolding starting to be removed this week.
When I met with local residents and businesses late last year with Cllr Sam Adeniji , they were very disappointed that Lewes District Council had refused to act saying legal action wasn’t possible.
I am pleased East Sussex County Council stepped up and forced the enforcement action and residents all over Seaford will welcome its removal as it became so dangerous for pedestrians and shop owners.”
