Do you want to pay for your train to London, and then pay AGAIN to travel around the city?
Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, is extremely disappointed that Sadiq Khan, Labour Mayor of London, is planning to scrap the London Day Travelcard which when added to current rail tickets saves local people money if they are travelling into London for work or leisure
These are the tickets that allow you to travel to London, and then use public transport for free once you’re there.
The Mayor of London wants to make it more expensive for commuters to travel in and around London, all while trying to extend the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) – a £12.50 daily drivers’ tax.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
“You will no longer be able to buy your travel card with you train ticket from Lewes and will have to pay separately which will cost significantly more and this could cost commuters across the constituency an extra £9.30 a day to travel to London.
I am campaigning to keep the travelcard, stop the proposed ULEZ expansion and retain the travel card to train fares outside London. Many residents from Lewes, Polegate, Seaford and Newhaven travel to London for work, days out and visiting family and friends and at a time when living costs are high this seems very unfair to people wanting to use public transport.
With a decision on the travelcard due in Autumn, there is still time to stop this. Sign the petition here👉https://bit.ly/41ZkH2P”
