Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, is encouraging residents to contribute to the consultation on East Sussex County Council’s local transport plan.
The draft East Sussex Local Transport Plan 2024 – 2050, sets out how the county council will plan and provide transport for residents, businesses and visitors in East Sussex now and for future generations, to help connect them with the places they need to go on a daily basis.
The strategy focuses on:
- enabling safer and more accessible journeys
- developing healthy places to enable people to live well
- decarbonising transport to help us to achieve net zero targets by 2050 at the latest
- maintaining and strengthen our transport networks so that they are resilient
- supporting a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economy within our coastal towns, market towns and villages in more rural areas.
East Sussex County Council are seeking views on the LTP4 Strategy which sets out the vision, objectives, policies, and plans for transport in the county, alongside the Implementation Plan which outlines the types of schemes we plan to deliver with partners to deliver the Strategy, and the accompanying assessments in relation to equalities, health and the environment.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
“East Sussex County Council have set out a comprehensive plan for a better connected county, I would encourage all residents to read the plans and to contribute their views to the consultation. The plan contains road projects that I know constituents have a keen interest in such as the A259, A27 and A26. I look forward to the results of the consultation next year and how the plans develop moving forwards.”
The consultation launched on the 27th November and will run until 24th February 2024. You can access it here: https://consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/local-transport-plan-4-2024-2050/
