Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, recently attended a reception for Local Community Safety Champions where she brought local resident Keith Mates to attend 10 Downing Street.
The event was hosted by the Security Minister, Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MP, and saw people from all over the country come together who are safety champions in their local community. Maria Caulfield nominated Keith Mates to attend with her. Keith leads a small team of volunteers who participate in speedwatch activities in Chalvington and Ripe.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
“It was a pleasure to invite Keith up to Downing Street for this event, people like Keith who volunteer their time and resources are a real community asset and help to keep us all safe. I would like to pay tribute to the hundreds of volunteers across the constituency who take part in activities like speedwatch.”
Security Minister, Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MP said:
“Alongside Maria Caulfield it was a real honour to meet police officers, members of local community groups and organisations from across the country who serve to keep our communities safe, such as her constituent Keith Mates. It is their vital work and commitment which is helping tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and offer victims the support they need.”
