Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, this week attended a reception in Parliament hosted by Dementia UK as part of their campaign to reform the funding formula for care.
Dementia UK’s Fix the funding campaign is calling for care to be fairer for people with dementia and their families by reforming the NHS’s Continuing Healthcare (CHC) Funding formula.
The CHC funding is used for meeting care needs and can go towards things like care home fees and care support staff.
Dementia UK is concerned that the correct system is not accurately reflecting the needs of people with dementia, and they are asking NHS England to review the CHC process so that it better recognises the cognitive, behavioural and care needs of people living with dementia.
Commenting on the event, Maria Caulfield MP said:
“It is vital that people with Dementia are able to access funding for the care that they need. I would like to pay tribute to all the work that Dementia UK do to support people living with dementia.”
