Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, attended a parliamentary event on the 28th November hosted by the Cats Protection charity.
The event highlighted the charities Lifeline service which is a specialist cat fostering service for survivors of domestic abuse.
Lifeline offers temporary foster care for cats whose owners are fleeing domestic abuse, the service enables both survivors and their pets to get to safety and then aims to reunite them once the owner has secure housing in place. Through a network of volunteer foster carers, temporary accommodation is provided for the cat until they can be reunited with their owner.
Volunteers care for the cats in their own homes, providing peace of mind to families fleeing domestic abuse who know their feline friends are in receiving the care and attention they need.
Maria Caulfield MP said:
