Health Secretary, Rt Hon Steve Barclay MP, recently visited the new community diagnostic centre at Falmer with local MP, Maria Caulfield, to see for himself the state of the art facilities that are now available for local people across East Sussex. Falmer is just one of a number of diagnostic centres recently opened in Sussex.
The Community Diagnostic Centre, which is one of 114 open across England, is there to provide quicker access to routine and urgent tests for everything from back pain to possible cancer and is run by specialists Medical Imaging for NHS patients.
The diagnostic scans available to local NHS patients include;
MRI
Ultrasound
X-ray
Ultrasound Guided Injections
CT Scan
Commenting on the visit, Maria Caulfield MP said, “The Secretary of State was very impressed with the diagnostic centre at Falmer from the state-of-the-art scanners to the facilities for patients from free parking to comfortable waiting areas. It means for residents that we have been able to reduce the time people are waiting for tests by having capacity outside of our busy local hospitals.”

Nationally Community Diagnostic centres have delivered over 4 million additional checks for a range of conditions from cancer to heart or lung disease - helping to cut waiting lists. The one-stop shops support quicker access to care and offer patients a wide range of tests closer to home and I heard from patients and staff what a great new service this is for the local area.”
