Maria Caulfield, Member of Parliament for Lewes, has questioned Health Ministers about alternative avenues for people wishing to train as a nurse.
As a nurse herself, Maria has previously raised concerns about the proposed changes to the training bursary scheme and today sought reassurance that the Government is supporting alternative avenues into nursing. These alternative avenues, such as the new vociational position of Nursing Associate, would allow mature students and people on a low income to gain access to training.
Maria commented; “I was pleased to hear that the Government is serious about its support for nurses and will provide avenues for all people to obtain training no matter their background and financial situation.
I hope that these avenues will encourage people who are interested in becoming a nurse to make the leap into the field.”
