A pre-Christmas campaign launched by NHS Blood and Transplant has been supported by the Member of Parliament for Lewes, Maria Caulfield.
Currently there are 1869 blood donors across the Lewes constituency. This means that only 2.1% of the constituency are considered to be active blood donors.
Patients need blood 365 days a year and as people get busier during the holidays its important that donors continue to come forward. One way you can help is to consider making and keeping an appointment to donate blood.
There are many excellent ways of giving back over the holiday season but every blood donation has the potential to save the lives of up to three people.
If you book an appointment, it can take just an hour of your time. You can find your local session and book by visiting www.blood.co.uk
“By registering to give blood, you could well be giving someone the most important Christmas present that they’ll ever receive, their life, so don’t leave it to someone else, fill the stocking and do something amazing by giving blood.”
