The Cencentus Concert, held in Seaford over the weekend has been labelled a ‘singing success for charity’ by the Member of Parliament for Lewes, Maria Caulfield.
The event, which was held at St Leonards Parish Church in Seaford on Saturday afternoon brought together the community for an afternoon of song from one of the area’s most prestigious choirs, Concentus.
The group of performers, which was formed eleven years ago, now boasts in excess of one hundred singers, who look to the leadership and dedication of accomplished singer, Adrian White, who has been the groups Musical Director since its inception.
The event aimed to raise funds for local charity the JPK Project, which was set-up to provide a Supported Living Environment for local people with learning disabilities. The Project has now raised enough money to commence the building programme, and is busy raising funds for the next step towards completion.
Concentus have played an important role in raising vital funds, raising £1,111 for the charity during their 10th year and over £23,500 since the choir began.
Speaking afterwards, the Lewes MP said:
“It was such a delight to join residents at this year’s Concentus Christmas Concert, which was quite simply breath-taking, and best described as a singing success for charity.”
“The plans that are currently being put into action by the JPK Project are massively exciting, and a very real opportunity to better the lives of some of the most vulnerable people within our society.”
“I therefore congratulate the Concentus Choir for all of the fundraising that they have carried out to support this project, as well as the organisations that have supported them in their fundraising work.”
