Improving the A27 between Lewes and Polegate

Maria Caulfield has been campaigning for many years for improvements to the A27 between Lewes and Polegate.

The road is currently one of the schemes being considered for RIS3 funding. RIS is the Road Investment Strategy and will explain the government’s aims and proposals for investment in the strategic road network from 2025 to 2030.

National Highways are looking at a number of options for this stretch of road including online, offline and hybrid options. The Department for Transport require all options to be considered and it is the Department for Transport that will make the final decision on whether the scheme will be included in RIS3 and we expect this to be announced in 2024.
