As you will know I have been fighting for WASPI women since being elected. I am pleased that there is now appeal on the court decision and I raised this in Parliament and asked the minister to confirm that the Government would respect the appeal if it was successful. The Minister confirmed the Government would abide by the court ruling.
I signed the EDM you refer to a few weeks ago as an important step to support women affect by the pension changes.
It is now incumbent on Parliament to resolve the issue, and I will do my upmost to lobby for a fairer pension situation for women born in the 1950s. The Government has committed to abide by the court ruling, and I will continue to hold them to account. If the appeal isn’t successful the ombudsman will then review the decision so there is still a route to ensure women getting the pension they have worked for.
