I had a very successful meeting with a number of constituents on the day of the lobby.
I am pleased that the Government is on track to deliver on our environmental policy, our strong commitment to the Paris Agreement, and using our exit from the European Union as an opportunity to strengthen our environmental laws. We are truly leading in our response to global warming, but I know too well that more needs to be done.
You might be aware that I recently presented a petition in the House of Commons, signed by constituents, including a large number of local schoolchildren, calling on London to host the next major climate change summit, COP26, scheduled to take place next year. This will be a huge opportunity to create some much needed awareness around the nation, and to put the UK at the centre of the global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
