Seaford’s MP Maria Caulfield has called on Lewes District Council to improve the cleaning of toilets in Seaford following complaints by residents.
Although Seaford’s public toilets are owned by Seaford Town Council, the cleaning of the toilets is the responsibility of Lewes District Council.
Maria Caulfield MP has received an increasing number of complaints from local Seaford residents who are disgusted by the levels of cleanliness in the toilets.
One resident, who has medical conditions, was concerned that only one cubicle was available on their visit due to the conditions of the toilets. This one cubicle still had excrement on the walls and behind the rim according to the resident.
Maria Caulfield MP said “I am getting an increasing number of residents contacting me to complain about the conditions of the public toilets in Seaford. It is always going to be a difficult job to clean toilets that are used by so many people but residents and visitors to Seaford should not be met with so many cubicles out of order, excrement on the walls and broken hand driers. Lewes District Council need to stop letting down the people of Seaford and provide them with clean and working public toilets.”
