Maria Caulfield MP has joined dozens of local residents and Willingdon MP Stephen Lloyd in protesting against the development of the Hindsland and Mornings Mill Farm site.
The proposed development would see 700 properties build on the greenfield site on the edge of Polegate. Maria Caulfield had previously called on the developer to build a new medical centre on the site to help the local area cope with so many additional people, however the developers have decided to maximise the number of properties on the site, leaving local GP surgeries and other infrastructure to struggle with potentially thousands more people moving into the area.
Maria Caulfield MP said “This site is not designated in the local plan for development and has been objected to by both Polegate Town and Willingdon Parish Councils, as well as many local people. Especially with the lack of infrastructure improvements for local people this development is not appropriate. It is far too large and is on a greenfield site that is not designated for housing. I would urge local people in Polegate and Willingdon to submit objections to Wealden Council before 10th February.”
Objections can be made online by searching WD/2017/1942/MEA on the Wealden Council website or in writing to Wealden District Council.
