Maria Caulfield MP has joined local residents in the Great Chailey Spring Clean, part of the Great British Spring Clean organised by Keep Britain Tidy.
The local event was organised by Chailey Litter Pickers and consisted of five days of litter picking fun starting on Thursday 14th March and ended on Monday 18th March. Since the group was formed in 2016 Chailey Litter Pickers have collected hundreds of bags of rubbish every year along the A272 and the area in and around Chailey.
Maria Caulfield MP said “Chailey Litter Pickers are an excellent group of dedicated local volunteers who regularly clean up litter in and around Chailey, particularly on the A272, as selfish drivers too often throw litter out of their car window and spoil the beautiful countryside. I hope that people will think more before throwing litter.”
“I’d like to thank Chailey Litter Pickers for allowing me to join them in the great work that they do and I’d encourage local people to be in touch with them or other similar groups local to them to spend an hour or two volunteering to keep our local area looking beautiful and litter free.”
