Maria Caulfield MP founds new APPG on Male Cancers

Maria Caulfield MP has brought together a group of MPs and leading urologists to found the All Party Parliamentary Group on Male Cancer.

The APPG will be working closely with ORCHID the only cancer charity focusing on male specific cancers, such as penile, testicular, and prostate cancers.

Following the inaugural group meeting in which former cancer nurse Maria Caulfield MP was voted in as Chairman, she led a round table discussion of industry experts including representatives from leading charities, specialist nurses and urology consultants.

Maria Caulfield MP said “I was shocked to see that Parliament did not have an All Party Parliamentary Group on male specific cancers and so I was pleased to work with ORCHID to set up the APPG on Male Cancers.”

“With many men still reluctant to talk to family, friends or their GP when symptoms arise we need to raise more awareness of the importance of quick diagnosis and treatment, as well as looking at new ways of working to improve survival rates for those with male specific cancer.
