Maria Caulfield MP celebrates Beer Day Britain with Harvey's and BBPA

Maria Caulfield MP has met with Brigid Simmonds, CEO of British Beer & Pub Association, at Harvey’s Brewery in Lewes to celebrate Beer Day Britain.

Beer Day Britain is the UK’s annual national beer day on June 15th when people celebrate the national drink. The day is designed to encourage people to drink beer, to raise the profile of beer as Britain’s national drink, and to celebrate Britain’s amazing brewing scene and heritage.

Harvey’s is the oldest independent brewery in Sussex, having been a landmark in Lewes for over 200 years, and is famous for its award winning traditional ales, normally only sold within a 60 mile radius of the brewery.

Maria Caulfield MP said “Harvey’s have been brewing traditional ales in Lewes for over 200 years, so it was the perfect location to join Brigid Simmons and the British Beer & Pub Association to celebrate Beer Day Britain.”

“Not only are independent breweries like Harvey’s excellent for our local economy and the hospitality trade, they also give so much back to the community as I saw first-hand when Harvey’s hosted the Santa Run for the Bevern Trust. Cheers to Beer Day Britain!”
