Newhaven MP, Maria Caulfield, joined the NCI Fun Day at Huggetts Green and is supporting their calls for more Coastwatch volunteers.
NCI watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the NCI ensures that high standards are met.
The Fun Day included children’s activities, face painting, displays, raffles, music, stalls and food & drink. The event was organised to raise funds and awareness of the National Coastwatch based in Newhaven.
Maria Caulfield MP said “I was pleased to attend the National Coastwatch Fun Day in Newhaven and catch up with Michael Carter, the NCI Station Manager in Newhaven, to hear about all of the great work that they are doing.
“Michael and his team are always looking for more volunteers to man the NCI Station in Newhaven, so if anyone is interested please do get in touch with him.”
