Maria Caulfield MP has congratulated 15 primary schools within her constituency that have increased the percentage of pupils at the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics from last year.
This year’s results are the fourth since the Government introduced more rigorous assessments to align with the new national curriculum in 2016, which has brought England’s primary education in line with the best in the world. Each year, more children are meeting the high expectations it sets, thanks to the hard work of teachers and pupils across the country.
Local in the Lewes constituency school funding is seeing average per pupil funding set to increase to £4,209 in primary schools. The increased funding available to local schools is paying off with excellent results across the Lewes constituency.
Maria Caulfield MP said “Thanks to the hard work of teachers, pupils, & parents we are seeing local schools achieving excellent results, with the best in the constituency now seeing over 90% of pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics. I have achieved success in campaigning in Westminster for increased funding for local schools and I am pleased that these schools are giving local children the best possible start in life and the protentional for a bright future.”
