Protecting our green spaces

I have worked with residents across the constituency to save our green spaces from development from the Gleesons development in Ringmer to Hindsland and Mornings Mill in Polegate and Willingdon. These not only destroy our green spaces but bring thousands of homes which are unaffordable to local people and put pressure on already creaking infrastructure such as GPs and schools.

Having successfully convinced the Government to drop housing targets what we desperately need is the Green led Lewes District Council to get their Local plan in place and the Lib Dem run Wealden Council to do the same.

Local Plans are legal planning documents which say where housing can and can't go and without one developers can apply for any site to become housing and with green field sites being cheaper to develop our green spaces are at risk with these Local Plans.

We are now seeing Harbour Heights in Newhaven and Eton College in the Plumpton are under threat simply because local Lib Dem and Green councillors have failed to update these local plans. They have frankly let residents down.
